A new European research consortium has been put together to "pave the way" for the large-scale production of biomass to liquid fuels for transportation based on wood and forestry residues.

Volkswagen and the Toshiba Corporation have signed a letter of intent in Wolfsburg, Germany. The objective of the letter is a cooperation for the development of electric drive units and the accompanying power electronics for Volkswagen's planned New Small Family.
