Five projects make Severn tidal power shortlist

A proposed shortlist of tidal power schemes to generate green electricity in the Severn estuary has been unveiled by the Government. The shortlist includes a mixture of barrages and innovative lagoon schemes

The UK is continuing to lead the world in marine renewables technology as the Secretary of State for Energy, John Hutton, grants planning permission for a prototype tidal stream generator to be tested in the Humber Estuary near Grimsby.
