Sunday marks the start of the European Mobility Week.  A week where cities all around Europe will be promoting alternative methods of transport to the car.

Cities will be holding a number of events from "In Town Without My Car" to special cycle zones.  Indeed, London will be closing many roads to cars on Sunday 20th September to make way for the Hovis Freewheel.  Edinburgh will be running a "Streets for People" series of events all week including "Polite Cycling".

Cardiff will be running a "Leave the car at home" pledge, where you pledge to leave the car at home and travel by walking, cycling, public transport or car sharing on at least on day in the working week. In this way people who participate can contribute to reducing congestion on the City's roads by up to 20% in the week.  As an alternative, you can also join the Carshare 2 Cardiff scheme.

Many local authorities are joining in with the week, so check out their sites for more information, or visit the Mobility Week website.<
