Worcestershire County Council is helping homes and businesses go green with its brand new information-packed Green Directory.

The County Council's sustainability team has developed an online 'one stop shop' of information in a bid to help homes and businesses become more environmentally friendly.

A whole host of information about how residents can be more sustainable at home by saving energy and composting waste can be found at www.worcestershire.gov.uk/green.  If you want to reduce your 'food-miles', the site also offers a directory of local farmer's markets, shops and organic food delivery services, along with a list of allotments, if you want to grow your own.

Businesses can also find out how to reduce costs and make sure they have 'green' credentials.  Advice is given on how to make your business more energy efficient, and cut down running costs of company cars through 'green fleets'.

Councillor Simon Geraghty, Worcestershire County Council's Cabinet Member for Planning, Economy and Performance, said:
"We all know how much valuable information there is out there, but it can be difficult to find all of the topics we need in one place. This new directory covers a broad range of subjects that are relevant in the home, at work, or both.

"The County Council is committed to being sustainable and want to lead the way for our communities. The directory is a major step in the right direction and we are encouraging as many people as possible to log on to it."
