Sainsbury's has teamed up with EDF Energy to launch cavity wall and loft insulation packages which could save customers up to £405 each year off their energy bills.

The packages, which will be dual branded Sainsbury's Energy and EDF Energy, will be in store from today and will reward customers with 1,000 Nectar points on completion of a free home site survey.

The Sainsbury's packages, will cost £249 each with no hidden costs. They will be delivered through an EDF Energy approved technician, and include a free home survey assessment before anything is installed.

Adam Zeiderman, Commercial Manager at Sainsbury's, said:
"Sainsbury's is delighted to be working with EDF Energy on delivering these new and unique packages to Sainsbury's customers to help them reduce their household energy bills. The packages will also provide our customers with a number of great benefits and will not have any hidden costs, but will have additional extras such as a boarded walkway from loft hatch to water tank with every loft insulation."

Michael Dyke, MD, Customer Services at EDF Energy, said:
"We are delighted to be working with one of the nation's favourite retailers on helping to bring cavity wall and loft insulation to Sainsbury's customers. This package perfectly complements 'Our Climate Commitments', launched in June 2007, which represent the biggest package of environmental initiatives launched by any major British energy company.

"We strongly believe that helping people use energy more efficiently is the most effective way to provide long-term support. We are committed to working with and helping our customers to 'save today, save tomorrow' as this helps them to reduce both their bills and their impact upon the environment."

Both packages will also include a fitted hot water tank jacket where required and all materials involved in the installation are included in the price. The loft insulation package includes a boarded walkway fitted from the hatch to the tank for easy access and the cavity wall insulation has a 25 year Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency (CIGA) guarantee.

Sainsbury's and EDF Energy have been working together since September 2006, providing gas and electricity to customers through the Sainsbury's Energy brand. With over 200,000 customers, this is one of the largest partnerships in the market.
