Some 4,000 households in The Hague Southwest will be supplied with geothermal energy starting in 2008.

Houses will be equipped with subfloor heating instead of radiators to ensure constant heating. The houses have to meet the strict requirements on energy insulation, the so-called energy performance coefficient for new houses. Construction of the well is scheduled for mid-2008 and will take several months to finish. In the winter of 2008/2009 the first set of houses should be connected to the geothermal energy network.
