Councillor Judy Onslow, East Hampshire District Council's Portfolio holder for environmental issues said:
?The Sustainability Centres recent Greening Petersfield campaign has encouraged people to become aware of the part they can play in reducing carbon emissions. We have an opportunity to extend this to the whole of the district, and to provide residents with information as to how they locally can contribute. We would like to hear your thoughts and ideas on the subject.?
The launch meeting will be at East Hampshire District Council Council Chamber at 6pm on Monday 2nd July.
Terena Plowright, of the Sustainability Centre said:
?The only way to move forward in the fight against climate change is for communities and individuals to work together locally. Petersfield has risen to the challenge and now we are working with the District Council to get the rest of East Hampshire on board.?
The meeting will consist of presentations and discussion to begin to construct an effective plan of action for the district.
This meeting will be a chance for people to find out more without obligation or to actually do something to help create and be a founding member of a network of volunteers acting to reduce carbon emissions across East Hampshire.
The Sustainability Centre, based in Petersfield, Hampshire, runs a number of courses including: 'Lowering your impact', 'Solar Water Heating Self Build' and 'An Autumn Herb Walk'.
